''Nanak Naam Jahaz Hai'' ((パンジャーブ語:ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ)), is a 1969 National Award winning Punjabi film directed by Ram Maheshwary, starring Prithviraj Kapoor, I. S. Johar, Nishi and Vimi in lead roles.〔 The devotional film is based on a true incident which took place at Golden Temple, Amritsar.〔 The film was awarded the 1970 National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Punjabi, and National Film Award for Best Music Direction,〔 plus it was the first major hit Punjabi film of post-independent India.〔
==Plot==
The film is set Amritsar in 1947, a devout Sikh and prosperous contracting businessman, Gurmukh Singh (Prithviraj Kapoor), lives with his wife, and younger brother, Prem. Trouble starts when Prem gets married to Ratan Kaur, as and her brother, Sukha, creates differences between two brothers, which eventually lead to the closure of the business. However amidst all the difficult times that come Gurmukh never loses faith and in time due to his sacrifice and quiet suffering, harmony is established in the family.〔
